Did you miss me, even a little bit?

October 16th, 2009 (11:22 pm)

current mood: accomplished

I've been gone a long time.  I'm so sorry!  But I haven't been gallivanting around (well, maybe a little gallivanting), I've been hard at work on two books, both due out next year, 2010.

A couple of weeks ago, I finally finally handed in my revision of IT'S NOT SUMMER WITHOUT YOU. I might do one more "polish" round, but after that, methinks this book is DONZO! It's pretty much all I've thought about for the past year, and you know what, I won't miss it one bit. I mean, I love it, but we need a break, a nice long break from each other. When we see each other again (in oh, two weeks?), it'll be Oh baby, I missed you. But for now, it's Peace out and good riddance, never darken my door again.

And today, at 4:55pm, I handed in chapter book revision to my editor at Little, Brown.  I've been working on this book for 2-3 years now.  Well, actually longer because it's a project I started in college.  So I've been working and reworking this draft for FOREVER, and last week, after much thought, I decided to pretty much change the whole thing.  I started from near scratch.  Not total scratch, a few scenes survived, but the bones of it were brand bony new.  At first I was scared, but once I got going, it just felt right.  Hopefully my editor agrees!  I'm so excited, I cannot wait for the illustrations!   The illustrator is someone super-special.  I've been a fan of hers for a few years now, and I even have one of her pieces framed and hanging up in my apartment.  I will tell you who she is as soon as my editor gives me the green light!

In other news, I met Ryan Gosling last night!  I'm still all fluttery inside thinking about it.  My BFFF and I went to see his band, Dead Man's Bones play, and when it was over, we snuck downstairs and got a picture.  He's super talented and also super HOT.  Like, white hot.  For those of you who've been paying attention, Ry-Gos is in my top 5-- at the top, actually.  I leave you with this, friends.

I just finished reading "The Summer I Turned Pretty".
It was recommended by my classmates. And everyone says the same thing.... "Once you start reading it, you won't be able to stop."
And true enough, I wasn't able to stop. I have a graduation photoshoot today and I was supposed to sleep early last night. But I couldn't because I don't want to put the book down. LOL. I think I slept at, like, 2AM. And I had my alarm on at 7AM so I can finish reading it. So much for a beauty sleep. ROFL.
Anyway, the ending was such a cliff-hanger. I can't wait for "It's Not Summer Without You". I haven't been this addicted since the Twilight Saga. And just like Twilight, I hope they come up with a movie for your series. :D
Well, I hope you keep on writing awesome stuff.
I think I've said enough. GOOD LUCK WITH EVERYTHING!!! GAMBATTE!

Hey Jenny,
I work at Books Of Wonder and randomly picked up "The Summer I Turned Pretty" the other day. I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed it. I just felt so comfortable with the characters and the world you set up-- that's the sort of feeling I want to create with my own writing-- and you really inspired me. Patty told me you used to work at the store so I just wanted to say hi and tell you that I can't wait for your next book. :o)

Conrad is kind of a Baldwin

So, I just had to let you know that The Summer I Turned Pretty was phenomenal. I'm currently getting my Masters in Library Science and this quarter I'm taking a Young Adult fiction class. I read a starred review of your book in School Library Journal and picked it up at the library. I randomly grabbed it out of my bag of YA books today and I'm SO glad I did. It was awesome! Seriously, I started it at 2:00 pm and was done by 6:00. I neglected the kids I nanny all afternoon because I was completely enthralled by Belly's story. This is about the 5th YA book I've read this quarter and I have to tell you that your characters are not only the most likable, but the most believable. It was easy to imagine them as real people. Real people I wished I was friends with! haha! I've found that dialogue and emotions in YA can awesome seem contrived and cheesy, but that was definitely not the case in your book. Anyway, I'm gushing, but I just wanted to congratulate you on a wonderful novel. Plus, I don't think authors get enough fan mail. They are just as cool as Brangelina. I can't wait for the sequel and I can't wait to recommend this book to students. Thanks!

Re: Conrad is kind of a Baldwin

Oops! I forgot to sign my name. I didn't want to look like some anonymous weirdo. Good luck with the final draft of the sequel.

immobilier location
